After cleaning a stranger’s abandoned grave at the cemetery, the next morning I FROZE from what I saw…
Hello, Mom! Oh, what I’m about to tell you! — my daughter said joyfully to her mother. — I’ve been wanting to tell you since yesterday. Yesterday at the library, I had the most amazing encounter. I ran into Vera, my friend from fifth grade. You must remember her. Her parents moved to Prague back then because her father was offered a contract there.

In the end, their whole family settled there permanently and adjusted wonderfully to their new life. At first, Vera and I didn’t recognize each other; it’s been so many years. But as soon as she said her last name, something clicked in my head, and all the memories flooded back.

I instantly remembered who she was. I’m sure you remember her too, Mommy. Vera and I once accidentally broke your favorite red glass vase while playing hide-and-seek.

Remember? We were so scared of your reaction that we didn’t dare confess for a long time. So, Mommy, Vera told me that everything turned out wonderfully for them in Prague.

She finished school, went to university, and now works at a major company. We talked so much about the past, our pranks, and childhood dreams. It was pure nostalgia.

I even thought how amazing it is that life sometimes brings us back to people from our past. It was like diving back into my wonderful childhood when you were still alive. And she gently adjusted her beloved mom’s photo on the grave.

The wind had tilted it slightly to the left. And she continued her quiet monologue at the cemetery. You know, Mom, Vera also shared updates about her life.

She’s doing great. She works as a designer and is happily married. She has a husband and two sons, born just a year apart.

They’re sweet boys, ten and eleven years old. She eagerly showed me their photos on her phone. And imagine, their whole family moved back here a year ago.

Alright, Mommy, I have to go. I’ll run now, but I’ll definitely come back next Saturday. If I linger now, I might miss my train….
